Our clients were in search of a design partner that would help define their needs and bring their vision to life. Initially intended as a 400 square foot architectural addition, the project quickly evolved into a full home renovation.

Project Scope | Discovery, Design, Implementation, Execution
The new home reflects a milestone for our clients as they embarked on their first renovation as a family. The original shell of the home was maintained apart from a new addition to the back of the house spanning over the first and second floor. The Architects engaged our team to oversee the interiors scope and together we took a collaborative approach to the project to ensure a seamless experience was created for the homeowners. Existing windows were expanded upon, and new windows were strategically placed to maximize access to natural light and exterior views from all parts of the home. The entryway was enlarged, and full height mudroom millwork was designed to accommodate storage and ease of access for all.
As you enter the heart of the home, the kitchen, you are drawn into a bright and spacious space. Millwork was designed to support a variety of functions; the ability to cook while hosting is accommodated with the newly connected dining space. Prep space is accommodated with a new dark toned, ten-foot island housing waste and recycling, the dishwasher and a centrally located farm style sink. A large gas cooking range with a pot filler is added as a new function for greater flexibility when cooking. Select cabinet fronts are accented with a ribbed glass adding an elegant, refined touch to semi-transparent shelving space.
A play on pattern can be seen throughout the space – an Italian designed tile with a subtle variation in colour was installed in a herringbone pattern and creates a continuous connection from the front of the home to the newly added secondary entry point and powder room. A playful moment is introduced as you enter the powder room with the use of a large patterned peacock wallcovering.
Enter the new primary suite where you are greeted by full height windows wall to wall. The room is flooded with natural light and provides views into the redesigned backyard space. The bed is oriented to face the new full height windows and the space is designed to feel calm, bright, and open. The ensuite bath includes a spacious shower and a free-standing bathtub for quiet evenings of reading and wine. The light grey floor and wall tile was selected to create a calming, spa atmosphere – a place you can enjoy no matter the time of day.
“As we embarked on the journey with the family, goals were outlined and priorities were set. The new home would feel bright and welcoming; greater access to storage and shower rooms would be achieved; and the kitchen would become the beating heart of the home- a place to socialize, cook, host, and gather.”
