Our Strategy.

We are what we repeatedly do, and our design integrity remains at the forefront of each project. We are committed to quality at every step of our creative process and believe every successful project includes a process developed to ensure we are learning, listening, and asking the right questions before diving into solution solving.

(1) Discovery.

Our opportunity to explore and uncover your vision and goals, strategize on an approach, and space plan different scenarios. Unique guiding principles specific to your project are developed collaboratively and represent the foundation for the design process.

  • Interactive visioning workshops to better understand your present state, and future vision.

Some of the themes explored will include current pain points, how you’d like to grow and evolve, and what type of experience you wish to create in your future space.

Development of a programming and planning strategy that will support your vision and goals. How does your future vision drive the needs of your physical space?

During this phase, we will collaboratively develop a detailed set of spatial requirements allowing us to establish square footage allocations for the most optimal planning approach.

Space Planning allows us to develop a floor plan reflective of what we know and what we’ve heard. A detailed building code review is completed to ensure all city and provincial requirements are met.

The plan is reviewed by the client with the Designer and is then revised and refined to ensure all details and requirements have been well captured.

(2) Design.

Once established, your vision is brought to life. The design process begins with early-stage ideas and concepts that are then developed and refined to align with your vision, goals, and identity.

  • Early-stage ideas are developed and presented to ensure the proposed design approach is in line with your vision.

Over the course of the design development phase, ideas are further expressed through lighting, floor and wall finish plans, interior elevations, and 3d perspectives.

Furniture development and selections reflect the design intent and begin to shape the functional details of your spaces.

(3) Implementation.

Upon design completion, technical drawings are developed to effectively communicate the design intent. Coordination takes place between all project consultants and drawings are issued to select contractors and city building departments before beginning construction.

  • Drawing coordination meetings with attendance from the full project team including the client, the Engineers, the AV consultant and the Designer.

Completion of detailed code review prior to permit application.

Completion of tender drawings for competitive bid process.

Oversight and management of permit department, trades, and general contractor requests for additional information.

(4) Execution.

Throughout the construction process, i.d.ah. advocates for the client and ensures that all administrative procedures are complete, and the construction execution is in line with contract drawings and specifications. With on-going management and coordination, the project is built into its physical form.

  • Design attendance of construction meetings to ensure all on-site questions and coordination items are resolved by the appropriate consultant.

On site paperwork issued as required to capture project changes and revisions

Review and oversight of all installations including furniture, audio visual, and equipment.

Deficiency walk-throughs, preparation of deficiency list for completion by the general contractor, furniture, and AV installers.
